Niacinamide is one of two forms of vitamin B3 (the other is nicotinic acid), acting as a precursor of NADH and NADPH coenzymes, which are involved in many key biochemical reactions.

In particular, they play an important role in glucose metabolism, energy production in cells, lipid synthesis in the skin and many others. The level of both coenzymes decreases with age and external administration of niacinamide seems to reverse this decrease.

In addition, niacinamide is one of the safer ingredients, extremely stable, well-tolerated in formulations, even at high concentrations. It has a very wide spectrum of action, suitable for almost any skin type.

Niacinamide can be used in rejuvenating therapy to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone by reducing skin discoloration and yellowness.

Numerous clinical studies have shown the positive effect of moisturizing preparations containing niacinamide on the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles in aging skin. The randomized study involved 50 women who for 12 weeks applied half a face cream containing 5% niacinamide compared to placebo, applied to the other side of the face. There was a reduction in wrinkle depth with p = 0.06 at week 8 and 0.0005 at week 12.

Vitamin B3 also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which means that it has a positive effect on reducing moderate acne, reducing its symptoms in the form of excessive secretion of sebum and enlarged pores.

Two studies were carried out comparing the relationship between excessive sebum secretion and enlarged pores and the action of a moisturizer containing 2% niacinamide. The results of both studies, conducted on a group of Caucasian and Japanese women, showed that after 4 weeks of using the cream 2x a day, both sebum production and pore size decreased compared to baseline parameters. An improvement in skin elasticity was also observed.

Recent studies have shown that the use of moisturizers containing niacinamide during retinoid therapy reduces its side effects and increases the effects, which means that the use of niacinamide has an indirect positive effect on collagen production.

Vitamin B3, offered in our store, has an extremely low content of nicotinic acid - 0.017%, so it does not cause vasodilation and can be safely used for vascular skin.

Niacinamide is such a stable substance that it can be combined with acids and vitamin C.
